About Buttered Crumbs

Um…okay, yeah.

So, what’s it all about? Ostensibly, comfort eating; but comfort eating is so much more than eating a whole tub of ice-cream after a bad break-up.

My philosophy is this: You’re feeling blue right? So you eat a packet of biscuits. You know you shouldn’t, so you are filled with self loathing and regret (and biscuits), so you feel blue, so you eat a family sized bar of chocolate and so on and so on…

What if we go about it a different way? You feel blue, you think a few biscuits (or whatever it is that takes your fancy) might cheer you up a bit. You take some time to browse a few recipes, curled up on the sofa with a cup of tea. You choose one you like, maybe you need to pop out to the shops to get ingredients. The fresh air and sunshine feel good; then you spend a happy couple of hours pottering around the kitchen – baking, tidying up, waiting for the biscuits to cool. At last they’re ready! They may be misshapen, but they smell and taste great. They are so good you want to share them. You put some aside for your partner or children. Maybe you ring up a friend and ask them over for coffee…how are you feeling now?*

What if we put some thought, some love, into what we put into our mouths? Share with others. Treat yourself. Feel that you care, and are worth caring about. Embrace your emotional eating and it might just really help you to feel better!

Now, I know how irritating recipe searching can be. Who wants to hear the writers life story up until this point? Especially annoying when they are presenting themselves as living a perfect, idyllic existence. Who wants random pop-ups, invasive ads, and ten pictures of the same thing that take an eternity to load? Where is the recipe? Why is it on a different page to everything else? What was I looking for again? Arrggh!

To make your experience smooth and stress free I aim to resist monetising the blog. There will be pictures, but not 101 pointless ones. Everything will be on the same page, menus should be easy to navigate, and personal anecdotes will be kept to a minimum. If you like what I do, you can support me over on Ko-fi: https://ko-fi.com/butteredcrumbs where you will find exclusive content. It’s always good to know that someone appreciates you!

*Buttered Crumbs accepts that you may still eat all the biscuits. Sorry, you’re on your own with that one.
